We had the pleasure of talking with Jennifer Medeiros for this week’s edition of “Kickin’ It With Cascade Ice.” Jennifer is a healthy living advocate, popular Mommy blogger and owner of the Makobie Scribe website. Read her healthy living tips, below!

Why is “Healthy Living” important to you?
Healthy Living is important to me because it improves the quality of your life and the life of your family. With a greater quality of life comes happiness, and isn’t happiness all we strive for in life?
Who are your “Healthy Living” role models and why?
My Uncle and Grandma have been eating healthy, organically and preservative-free for over 40 years. They started before living healthy was even popular. It was definitely a serious commitment!
What is your go-to healthy meal when you are short on time?
I like to grab raw fruit and veggies when I’m short on time.
Do you have any tips for families who want to make some healthy lifestyle changes?
Make one change at a time. No matter how small the effort, it still counts! It’s the best way to start improving your life.
Are there any foods that you consider to be off-limits completely?
Celery! I never was and never will be a fan.
In addition to eating right, do you have any other tips to share on overall wellness?
Getting adequate sleep and regular exercise are very important. Even if you don’t have time for a full fitness routine, get up and walk a few laps around your house. It will help improve your overall wellness!
What is your favorite Cascade Ice flavor and why?
I love the Pina Colada mixer. I can drink it plain, with juice or with rum. I have never met a coconut I didn’t like.

Labor Day is around the corner and we will soon be trading our water slides and white sandals for cozy sweaters and fall activities. But you can still hold onto the last rays of summer sunshine with Cascade Ice’s lemon-themed recipes, perfect year-round.
Traditional Strawberry Lemonade
You can never go wrong with the traditional Strawberry Lemonade. Pour 8oz Strawberry Lemonade Cascade Ice into an ice filled glass. Slice 3-4 fresh strawberries and 1 small lemon and add to your glass. Stir with a straw to evenly disperse the natural flavors from the fresh fruit.
Pink Grapefruit Lemonade
For a unique and crowd pleasing lemonade, whip up the Pink Grapefruit Lemonade. Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour 8oz of Pink Grapefruit Cascade Ice over the ice. Take a small fresh lemon and cut it in half. Squeeze the lemon juice from one ½ lemon into your glass and make sure to strain the lemon seeds. Add a couple slices of fresh lemon to compete the drink.
Lemon Drop Twist
The Lemon Drop Twist recipe is a spin off the Cascade Ice Lemon Drop recipe. The Lemon Drop Twist uses Lemonade Cascade Ice rather than the Lemon Drop Mixer Cascade Ice. Add 8oz Lemonade Cascade Ice Water, 2oz vodka and 1oz Amaretto to a martini mixer. Shake gently, pour over ice and garnish with a lemon slice and cinnamon stick.
