This week, we are “kickin’ it” with Alli Doubek from Couponing for 4. Alli is a frugal living blogger who shares her coupons, deals and steals to help you get the most bang for your buck. See Alli’s tips for living a healthy and frugal life, below!

Why is “Healthy Living” important to you?
Because we only get one body! I want to be a good example for my children.
Who are your “Healthy Living” role models and why?
I have always been a fan of people like Kate Winslet. Women who embrace their curves and represent themselves in a healthy way are my role models.
What is your go-to healthy meal when you are short on time?
Avocado, turkey and lite cream cheese on whole grain bread. Yum!
Do you have any tips for families who want to make some healthy lifestyle changes?
Choose one thing to start with and build from there. For example, for the next three weeks, I’m going to drink 8 glasses of water every day. Create the habit and then add a new one.
Are there any foods that you consider to be off-limits completely?
I believe that nothing is off limits. You should be able to eat everything in moderation.
In addition to eating right, do you have any other tips to share on overall wellness?
When you are under stress, you eat more. Try to meditate every day or do yoga or read a book. Do something to clear your mind.
What is your favorite Cascade Ice flavor and why?
Pomegranate Berry Cascade Ice is my favorite. I’m a berry girl and this is addictive!

This week, Cascade Ice is “Kickin’ It” with The Healthy Hostess, Ali Hively. Ali is a certified personal trainer, certified nutrition and wellness consultant, personal chef and healthy living blogger. See Ali’s healthy living tips below.

Why is “Healthy Living” important to you?
Healthy living is important for so many reasons! Some of the most important reasons are to feel good, to be a good role model for my children and others, and to live life to the fullest.
Who are your “Healthy Living” role models and why?
My peers in the blogging and fitness industry are some of my biggest role models. My husband and family are also healthy living role models.
What is your go-to healthy meal when you are short on time?
When I am short on time, I always make a big salad with anything from the fridge. I start with a big plate of greens and add anything I am in the mood for. Sometimes I top salads with leftovers, fruit, beans, nuts and any veggies I have on hand!
Do you have any tips for families who want to make some healthy lifestyle changes?
Eat fresh and get moving! When you shop the outer edges of the grocery store, you are able to fill your cart with fresh produce, meats and low-fat dairy. These are the best foods to get you on track for healthy living. The fewer ingredients in a single food, the better it is for you. Also, make sure you are active everyday. Whether it’s a family soccer game after dinner, an early morning jog or even a swim at the pool, make sure the whole family is moving!
Are there any foods that you consider to be off-limits completely?
I don’t consider any foods to be totally off limits. Everything in moderation – as long as you are realistic about it. For me, I no longer choose to eat fried foods because I have not had them in so long and now they just don’t feel good to eat. But if there is a special dessert, count me in!
In addition to eating right, do you have any other tips to share on overall wellness?
I think the key to overall wellness is finding a good balance of everything.
- Rest is important. Getting enough sleep gives you the energy you need to be active, prepare healthy meals and take care of yourself and your family.
- Create good, lasting habits. Good habits are better than trying fad diets because you are less likely to break a promise to yourself!
- Exercise 5 days a week for your whole life – not just for a certain time period. Exercise is one of the best ways to manage stress and can keep you sane, as well as in shape!
- Surround yourself with fit and healthy people. These type of people like to do active things and are often happier people in general.
- Spend time outdoors – it can give you a new outlook on life. Whether you are taking a bike ride or weeding the garden, make a point to get some fresh air!

It’s October! For fans of America’s pastime, that means it’s the playoff season for the 2013 Major League Baseball World Series. The St. Louis Cardinals and the LA Dodgers are duking it out in the National League Championship Series while the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox are fighting to win the American League Championship Series. The winners of each series will stand off Oct. 23 in the World Series. Between the playoffs and World Series creeping up, you’ve got to be having some MLB watching parties. Sport a Cascade Ice MLB beverage to support your favorite team!
The Cardinal Freese
Support the St. Louis Cardinals with The Cardinal Freese. Pour 8oz Wild Berry Cascade Ice, ½ cup ice, and 1.5oz vodka into a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour the frozen Cardinal Freese into a glass and garnish with a sliced strawberry.
The Dodgers Draft
Pour a glass of The Dodgers Draft as you cheer on the LA Dodgers. Add fresh berries and 5 ice cubes to a tall glass. Pour 8oz Acai Blueberry Pomegranate Cascade Ice over the ice. Make it an adult treat by adding 1.5oz triple sec.
The Tigers Taster
Root for the Detroit Tigers and enjoy a glass of The Tigers Taster. Squeeze 1oz of fresh orange juice and 1oz fresh lemon juice into a cocktail shaker. Add 6oz Orange Mango Cascade Ice, mix well and pour into a tall glass. Top it off with 4oz champagne and an orange slice.
The Red Sox Red-Eye
Sport a Red Sox Red-Eye as you cheer on your Boston team. Pour 8oz Raspberry Lemonade Cascade Ice into a glass and add 1oz vodka and 1oz amaretto. Stir and add 5 ice cubes. Garnish with 3 lemon slices.
Cheers to your favorite MBL team!

This week, Cascade Ice is “Kickin’ It” with Brandy, “Girl on Fire.” Brandy is the blogger behind Not So Average Mama, the blog without a niche and photographer for Loudmouth Photography. She lives with a degenerative neurological disease and healthy living is extremely important to her. Continue reading to learn more!

Why is “Healthy Living” important to you?
I have a degenerative neurological disease called CRPS (sometimes known as RSD). It is very important that I take care of myself to lessen the effects of the disease.
Who are your “Healthy Living” role models and why?
I look up to anyone who has a struggle and fights through it. They are all my role models!
What is your go-to healthy meal when you are short on time?
When I am short on time, I make a loaded salad with vegetables, fruits and nuts!
Do you have any tips for families who want to make some healthy lifestyle changes?
Focus on one small change and one goal at a time! Every step you take towards living a healthy live is progress. You can’t give up!
Are there any foods that you consider to be off-limits completely?
This is hard. I believe MOST things are okay in moderation. But that doesn’t mean it is good for your body! I would have to say I consider fast food restaurants off limits. I try to stick to a RAW foods diet, but occasionally have cooked foods, meat and dairy.
In addition to eating right, do you have any other tips to share on overall wellness?
Sleep is something I desperately need. But due to the pain I experience with RSD, I do not get enough. I know I need more sleep! I believe exercise is crucial for a good night’s sleep. I chose something fun such as Roller Derby!
What is your favorite Cascade Ice flavor and why?
So far Lemonade Cascade Ice is my favorite, but I haven’t tried them all yet!
