It’s National Cookie Day! What better way to celebrate than to whip up a batch of homemade cookies? While sugar tends to be the main ingredient in most cookie recipes, you can get creative with alternatives to make them easier on your diet. Check out our handy list below for some easy baking ingredient alternatives. Happy snacking!
Unsweetened applesauce – Swap one cup of unsweetened applesauce for one cup of sugar to drastically slash fat and calories. Try it in oatmeal cookies!
Honey – If you’re simply looking to lessen the amount of sugar in a recipe, honey is the way to go! Honey is full of nutrients like vitamins and minerals, and won’t send your blood sugar soaring. For every 1 cup of sugar, substitute 1/2 cup of honey.
Wheat flour – Skipping the traditional white flour used in most cookie recipes and swapping with whole wheat flour can save you from consuming empty calories and refined carbs. To make the switch, sub in one cup of wheat flour for one cup of white flour for a healthier alternative.
Bananas – Can you believe the mashed bananas can make an easy swap for butter? Bananas contain potassium and their sweet flavor makes it perfect for baking. Simply replace a cup of butter with 3/4 cup of pureed banana in your cookie recipe.
And of course, what goes better with a cookie than an ice-cold beverage? Cascade Ice Sparkling Water comes in 18 flavor combinations to complement your favorite kind of cookie. Check out our full flavor lineup here!

The school year is just around the corner! Time to put those boring and unhealthy lunches to rest with Cascade Ice. Here are some fun, easy, and smart lunch choices for kids as they embark on their new school year.
Chicken Salad Sandwich:
This chicken salad sandwich is one kids are sure to love. It’s simple and can be made the night before! Start by getting out a medium mixing bowl and dumping 2 cups of canned chopped chicken. Next, add mayonnaise, lemon juice, and chopped (small) celery. Put the mixture between 2 slices of whole wheat bread and pair with whole grain Goldfish snacks and of course your favorite flavor of zero-calorie Cascade Ice. With this lunch, we recommend Cascade Ice Blueberry Watermelon to add some sweetness.
Kabob Sandwich
This lunch is fun and healthy, not to mention super easy! First, you’ll need wooden kabob sticks. Start by placing an olive at one end of the stick to keep the food in place. Slide on a 2×2 inch square of bread, then add your favorite meats and cheeses to the middle. For our kabob we used one slice folded ham, one piece of lettuce, one slice of folded turkey and one cube of cheese. Repeat the middle 2 more time, then top it off with another 2×2 slice of bread. Don’t forget to pack your Cascade Ice! With this crafty lunch, we suggest a simple pairing of Cascade Ice Lemonade. Sweet and refreshing!
Health Pack on the Go!
The health pack is full of protein that kids need to get through the day. Start by packing string cheese, a sliced banana, broccoli paired with peanut butter to dip, and fresh edamame. To finish it off, Cascade Ice’s Organic line is perfect. We recommend Cascade Ice Organic Grapefruit.

This week we’re highlighting one of our favorite zero-calorie flavors, Cascade Ice Black Raspberry! Black raspberries are high in antioxidants and contain anti-inflammatory properties. Here are a few fun recipes you can make at home to soak up those health benefits.
Very Berry Cosmo
For a fun twist on a classic, start by filling a shaker halfway with ice. Add 1.5 ounces of Cascade Ice Black Raspberry, 1.5 ounces of vodka, half an ounce of raspberry liquor and half an ounce of fresh lime juice. Shake it up and pour into your favorite martini glass. Garnish with a few black raspberries on top and you’re ready to serve!
Black Raspberry Sparkler
Add some sparkle to your day with this fun beverage. Begin by muddling a variety of berries in the bottom of any glass. We recommend using black or red raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. Add one ounce of lime juice and a pinch of sugar for added sweetness. Finally pour in 2 ounces of club soda and 2 ounces of Cascade Ice Black Raspberry. Stir it all together and enjoy!
Berry Blast
This is a great treat for the whole family! In a blender add 4 ounces of Cascade Ice Black Raspberry, 3/4 cup of Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of milk and a handful of black raspberries.
