The holidays can be one of the most exciting and fun times of the year. Often, this fun can also be coupled with stress, weight gain and headaches. The holidays don’t have to hinder your healthy living style if you remember to do a few simple things.
Stick to your typical work out routine. This will not only balance out the extra holiday food you are consuming, but also keep you in a cheerful mood!
Make sure to take a multivitamin and get some extra vitamin C. With so much traveling this season, it’s pretty easy to catch a cold. Adding vitamins to your routine will help you avoid getting sick during the most wonderful time of the year!
Get some sleep! We know all those late night parties and shows are so much fun, but be sure to get enough sleep. This will help you ward off illness, maintain a calm and happy mood and can help keep you from overeating.
Staying healthy means you will be able to enjoy all the things that you love this holiday season! Don’t forget to visit the Cascade Ice Facebook page for updates and great health related tips throughout the holiday season!

This Thursday many of us will be chowing down with friends and family, and of course most people choose turkey as their meat of choice on Thanksgiving. With the holiday season approaching, turkey will appear again and again on your plate through the end of December, which begs the question: how healthy is turkey?
Turkey actually is good for your body as long as you don’t overeat (like all good things, moderation is key). Cooking your bird with the skin on it helps seal in moisture and keep out fat, just remember to peel the skin off before you eat it! Turkey is also a great source of folic acid, zinc, vitamin B and potassium!
If you are looking for a turkey alternative while trying to stay healthy, give Tofurky a try! Four ounces of Tofurkey has only 190 calories, 5 grams of fat and is loaded with 26 grams of protein!
As always remember to stay hydrated during the holiday season! When sitting down with your turkey, be sure to grab a Cascade Ice Ultra Pure Water or one of our tasty 2-calorie waters like Pomegranate Berry for a healthy holiday drink!

The American Diabetes Association has named November American Diabetes Month. In the United States more than 26 million children and adults are living with diabetes and 79 million are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is often overlooked as deadly or serious, but diabetes kills more people each year than breast cancer and AIDS combined.
The ADA estimates that by 2050 1 in every 3 Americans will have diabetes. Diabetes can lead to blindness, severe nerve damage and slowed digestion. The estimated cost of diabetes in America is $174 billion.
What You Can Do:
How You Can Prevent Diabetes:
- Stay active an exercise – get up and move around for 30 minutes a day (take the dog for a walk, play with the kids, walk around the mall)
- Follow healthy eating habits – eat leaner meats, eat whole grains and avoid sugary sodas (try opting for a Cascade Ice instead!)
When you’re starting to plan your diabetes prevention track, remember that you can take small steps. You’ll find more success if you do a little bit at a time and make true, long-term lifestyle changes.
We know this November we’ll be swapping out our sugary sodas for a delicious Cascade Ice 2-calorie, sugar and sodium-free flavor like coconut! What steps have you taken towards a healthier lifestyle this month?
