Can Staying Hydrated Help Your Skin Look Better?

by Cascade Ice on June 5, 2020

Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do to make your entire body function well. But one essential organ that often gets overlooked (even though it’s the biggest!) is our skin.

The average adult body is nearly 60 percent water, and our skin alone contains 63 percent water. Water is essential for cells to carry nutrients throughout our body and other organs. When you don’t get enough, it can keep your body from eliminating toxins through your skin, which in turn makes your skin more susceptible to skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, discoloration, and even premature aging.

The good news? You can actively make small changes each day to help keep your skin looking great. If you have a sweaty workout, make sure you replenish your fluids by drinking extra water or a sports drink with electrolytes. If you want a snack that will keep you hydrated and give you extra energy, make a smoothie! With all of the fresh fruit and vegetables, smoothies are an awesome (and yummy!) way to stay hydrated. Lastly, make a daily water intake goal. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is 15.5 cups of fluids for men, and 11.5 cups of fluids a day for women. Bored with tap water? Pick up a Cascade Ice Sparkling Water. With so many flavors and varieties, you’ll never lose interest in staying hydrated to achieve healthy, glowing skin!
