Founder of The Dallas Socials

Why is “healthy living” important to you?

Many people don’t realize the importance of healthy living. Healthy living is essential to maintaining long-term health and living a full life with no restrictions.

Who are your “healthy living” role models and why?

I’m not big into following or idolizing people who are famous. If I were to chose any role models, I would chose the working mom who is implementing a healthy lifestyle into her family’s lives and the father who teaches his kids the importance of working out. It would be the every day person who makes the time and effort to stay healthy, regardless of what is going on his or her live.

What is your go-to healthy meal when you are short on time?

Steamed brussel sprouts and salad are so simple but very healthy and nutritious! I love this combination because it can be made within minutes.

Do you have any tips for families who want to make some healthy lifestyle changes?

Start slowly so you don’t burn yourself out from eating overly healthy in the beginning. Make small changes in your diet and your daily habits to make a healthy lifestyle change.

Are there any foods that you consider to be off-limits completely?

No! One bad meal won’t make you fat, just like one healthy meal won’t make you skinny. I don’t believe in completely restricting yourself from any food. You have to be smart about your choices.

In addition to eating right, do you have any other tips to share on overall wellness?

Healthy living is a combination of eating right, working out, getting enough sleep, etc. It truly is a lifestyle and many components play a role. Don’t let one bad day of eating or stress get you down. Healthy living isn’t always easy, so don’t give up!

Get ready to kick it with Tradina DeMary, a consumer advocate, photo journalist and writer for Examiner.com. Tradina shares the importance of keeping your eye on the prize when it comes to overall wellness. Tradina shares some advice and encouragement to help families take healthy steps!

Why is “Healthy Living” important to you?

Being healthy allows me the freedom to be all that I can be in life. As an Events Examiner, I spend countless hours on the go, walking and traveling from one event to another. Having health goals is important to your journey. One must always maintain some sense of health consciousness to enjoy the full benefits of a well-rounded lifestyle.

Who are your “Healthy Living” role models and why?

My “healthy living” role models are my dad, Jesse DeMary (healthy at age 76!) and Mark Reed, my best friend. My dad introduced me to juicing which I’ve come to refer to as “liquid energy!” My best friend Mark is a fitness inspiration who loves to jog and train at the gym.

What is your go-to healthy meal when you are short on time?

I love green smoothies! I mix fresh seasonal fruit, yogurt, flax seeds and spinach in the blender.

Do you have any tips for families who want to make some healthy lifestyle changes?

We can all stand to eat more fruit and vegetables and eat less red meat, sugar and salt. Also try incorporating beans in your diet to increase protein intake. Doing some sort of physical activity every day is important too!

Are there any foods that you consider to be off-limits completely?

I don’t have any off-limit foods. I would say moderation and portion control is key to a healthy diet.

In addition to eating right, do you have any other tips to share on overall wellness?

Other things that contribute to overall wellness are a good night’s sleep, energetic exercise, breathtaking laughter, building healthy relationships with people, creating a healthy diet, finding a passionate career and lastly loving yourself and your family.

What is your favorite Cascade Ice flavor and why?

My favorite Cascade Ice drink is Orange Mango because mango is one of my favorite fruits! Cascade Ice is so refreshing.
